Russian Federation wrestler Davit Chakvetadze has revealed his delight after earning a gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 85kg final at the European Games.
Chakvetadze had to work hard to beat Ukrainian Zhan Beleniuk 3-1 at the Heydar Aliyev Arena on Sunday, with the Russian also paying tribute to the strength of his opponent in Baku.
"I knew this would be a tough contest," said Chakvetadze, according to the official Baku 2015 website.
"He is very strong, and I cannot express how happy I am to win. This is my first big international success."
Russia currently occupy second place in the medals table, one position behind hosts Azerbaijan who hold top spot.
