Russian Federation wrestler Valeriia Lazinskaia has revealed that she felt "proud" on the podium after collecting her gold medal for her win in the women's freestyle 63kg.
The 22-year-old defeated Yuliia Tkach of the Ukraine 3-1 in the final at the European Games to clinch the gold medal.
She told reporters: "When you stand on the podium and you see the flag of your country rising and the anthem sounding, you have one second of your own mini-victory.
"I felt proud and think I have contributed something to my country, Russia."
Lazinskaia's gold medal is one of Russia's 12 of the Games so far.
