Russian Federation win 10th European Games wrestling gold

Russian Federation continue their domination of the wrestling events at Baku 2015 by taking gold in the men's freestyle 70kg event.

Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov has defeated Magomedmurad Gadzhiev in the men's freestyle 70kg final in Baku to claim a 10th wrestling gold medal of the European Games for Russian Federation.

The 24-year-old recorded a 3-1 technical points victory over his Polish opponent, after both men had earlier stormed into the final.

Gazimagomedov beat Turkey's Yakub Gor 3-0 in the semi-finals, while Gadzhiev was a 4-0 victor against David Tlashdze of Georgia in his final-four bout.

Gor therefore had to settle for bronze, as did home nation competitor Ruslan Dibirgadzhiyev.

Russia now have 33 medals overall at Baku 2015, putting them well out in front of the chasing pack, although today marks the end of the wrestling events in the Azerbaijani capital.
