Eintracht Frankfurt's Jesper Lindstrom refuses to rule out the prospect of joining Arsenal and admits that "something may have to happen" in the future.

Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Jesper Lindstrom has refused to rule out the prospect of joining Arsenal and admits that "something may have to happen" in the future.

The 22-year-old has recently emerged as a potential target for the Gunners, with one report claiming that they have made contact over a January move for the Denmark international.

However, Mikel Arteta's side do not appear to be the only club keeping tabs on Lindstrom, as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Juventus, AC Milan and Roma have also been credited with an interest.

Lindstrom spent seven years in his homeland with Brondby before moving to Frankfurt last summer for around £6.3m, signing a contract until June 2026.

The attacker, who can operate as an advanced midfielder or as a winger, enjoyed a successful first year with the German club last season, recording five goals and nine assists in 39 games for the Europa League winners, and he was also named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year.

Speaking after Denmark's 2-0 UEFA Nations League win over France on Sunday, Lindstrom admitted that he is flattered by the interest that he has received from the likes of Arsenal.

"It's a huge confidence boost. It's one of the biggest things as a footballer, so I'm obviously very happy," Lindstrom told Danish news outlet Tipsbladet, via Sport Witness.

"It is hard not to read along when articles appear on your Facebook, Instagram and other social media. So of course, I read it, but I don't take it too seriously.

"The transfer window is not open at all right now, so I'm just giving it my all and waiting to see what happens.

"It's always great to play in the biggest league in the world, but whether Arsenal is right for me is hard to say. Right now, I'm in a good place in Frankfurt, but it's great that there are clubs like them that are watching me. Something may have to happen at some point, but right now I'm fine."

An offer of around £18m could be enough for Arsenal or any other interested clubs to prise Lindstrom away from Frankfurt, but the club's sporting director Markus Krosche affirms that a deal can only be agreed if it suits both parties.

"I often read that Eintracht Frankfurt is a training club, but that's wrong, we're not," Krosche told Frankfurt Rundschau.

"Because we get players to achieve our goals, to achieve our ambitious goals. At the same time, secondly, it's like this: If a player develops much faster than that of the club, we will probably sell him at some point. That's totally normal.

"Then we just have to find the next player on the market and bring them to us. That's the challenge we'll always have at Eintracht Frankfurt."

Arsenal spent close to £120m on five new signings over the summer, but it is thought that Arteta will be backed again in the transfer market in 2023.

Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos were three attacking players who moved to the Emirates Stadium, while versatile left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko and goalkeeper Matt Turner also made the switch to North London.
