Liverpool confirm that 19-year-old striker Max Woltman has left the club to join League One side Oxford United on a permanent deal.

Liverpool have announced that teenage striker Max Woltman has left the club to join League One side Oxford United on a permanent deal.

The 19-year-old joined Liverpool at the age of seven and rose through the academy ranks to make a pair of senior appearances for the club in the 2021-22 campaign.

Woltman was handed his senior debut by Jurgen Klopp in a Champions League group-stage clash with AC Milan, one month before starting against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.

Woltman subsequently continued his development at Under-21 level and was also loaned out to Doncaster Rovers in the first half of last season, but he failed to score or assist in 14 games for the League Two side.

Upon his return to Merseyside, the 19-year-old netted a final two goals for the Under-21s before making the move to Oxford - where he was on trial over the summer - for an undisclosed fee.

"I was made to feel part of things very quickly. This is a very talented squad and the coaches have been first class with me. I like the set up, like the way they want to play the game and I'm really looking forward to it," Woltman told the official Oxford website.

The Englishman leaves Liverpool with a total of 10 goals from 44 games at Under-21 level, prior to which he netted 14 times in 35 games for the Reds' Under-18s.
