Manchester United managerial target Graham Potter has reportedly turned down the opportunity of becoming the next head coach of Ajax following talks with the Eredivisie giants.

The 48-year-old has been without a club since his dismissal from Chelsea in April 2023 but has been linked with several opportunities in recent months, both in the Premier League and abroad.

After a dismal start to the 2023-24 season, Ajax appointed John van't Schip as manager on an interim basis following the sacking of Maurice Steijn back in October.

However, the Dutch coach has not met the club's expectations this season, with many of his high-profile signings failing to deliver the desired performance level.

Kylian Mbappe will allegedly take a substantial pay cut to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

On Friday, the France international confirmed, as had been widely reported, that he would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of June.

Mbappe stopped short of confirming his next destination, but he is widely expected to make the move to Real Madrid on a free transfer, with Los Blancos long seen as the favourites.

According to AS, the forward has agreed to take a pay cut in order to move to Real Madrid, with the Spanish outfit not prepared to match his mammoth wages in the French capital.

Manchester United are reportedly contemplating a cut-price transfer swoop for Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo Mandava in the upcoming transfer window.

The 30-year-old left-back from Mozambique began his professional football journey when he joined Benfica's academy in 2016 and remained on their books until 2019.

Mandava then joined Ligue 1 outfit Lille for around £2m before securing a move to Madrid in 2022. It is understood that he will enter the final year of his contract with the La Liga giants this summer.

Erik ten Hag has faced major difficulties in the left-back position this season, with Tyrell Malacia sidelined for the majority of the campaign and Luke Shaw grappling with recurring injuries.

How should Chelsea handle Deivid Washington situation?

If reports are to be believed, Chelsea are eager to secure a deal for Palmeiras teenager Estevao Willian as soon as possible. The 17-year-old is viewed as one of the best talents to come out of the country given that he has already accumulated 15 matches for one of the Brasileiro's highest-profile sides.

But we have been here before. Chelsea's co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital were eager to sign Endrick from the same team not so long ago, only to watch the then-unproven starlet choose Real Madrid.

Whether it has always been a set plan of Boehly and Clearlake, or whether they just became further motivated to make a statement in the Brazilian market, the focus on that particularly country has remained and is yet to prove worthwhile.

The assumption is that, if Boehly and Clearlake had their way, a wide array of talent would be spending a minimum of a season at Strasbourg - also owned by BlueCo - to help boost the French club and act as a platform to gain the necessary experience to potentially represent Chelsea in the future.

Liverpool 'identify first signing of Arne Slot era'

Liverpool have reportedly identified the player who they would like to make as their first signing of the summer.

According to widespread reports, Liverpool are currently going through the final stages of tying up the managerial appointment of Arne Slot.

At the back end of April, it was alleged that the Feyenoord boss had become the club's first-choice target to replace Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout, and Slot himself has since confirmed that he wants to move to Merseyside.

While it remains unclear when an official announcement will come, Liverpool's newly-assembled recruitment team are in a position where they can start work ahead of the next transfer window.

Spurs 'planning nine-player clearout in summer window'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou reacts on May 2, 2024
    © Reuters

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou is reportedly prepared to part ways with as many as nine players during the summer transfer window.

In the Greek-Australian's first season in charge, Spurs have performed far better than under his predecessors, almost guaranteeing European football for 2023-24.

However, Spurs are currently on a run of four successive defeats, leaving the North Londoners seven points adrift of Aston Villa in the race for the final Champions League place.

Realistically, Spurs need to overcome Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United in their final three matches to avoid the Europa League becoming the best-case scenario.
