Sevilla held by Levante

Sevilla miss out on a chance to move into La Liga's top four after being held to a 1-1 draw with Levante.

Sevilla missed a chance to move into the top four of La Liga as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Levante this afternoon.

Midfielder Vitolo gave the Europa League holders the lead just after the half-hour mark when he got on the end of Gerard Deulofeu's cross.

David Navarro almost responded for Levante five minutes later, but the defender couldn't direct his header on target from Andreas Ivanschitz's corner.

Nabil El Zhar should have equalised on 75 minutes but the Moroccan winger could only head wide, although the visitors restored parity shortly after.

Sevilla failed to deal with El Zhar's corner, and it was Victor Casadesus who eventually turned the ball home from close range with 10 minutes remaining.
