Max Kruse, Daniel Caligiuri and Matthias Ginter are on target for Freiburg as they defeat Werder Bremen 3-2 at the Weserstadion.

Freiburg have registered a thrilling 3-2 victory over Werder Bremen away from home in the Bundesliga.

The first of the five goals at the Weserstadion came after 36 minutes when Max Kruse fired in from outside the box.

Bremen were level just three minutes later through Nils Petersen, who shot home from the right side of the box after being set up by Kevin de Bruyne.

Freiburg regained their advantage nine minutes into the second half from the penalty spot. Aleksandar Ignjovski brought down Daniel Caligiuri, who stepped up to score from 12 yards.

However, the hosts were back on level terms in the 64th minute, Petersen scoring his second goal of the afternoon from close range.

Freiburg had the last laugh in the contest as they scored their third and winning goal on 71 minutes through a Matthias Ginter effort from close range.
