The Carolina Panthers have announced that Ron Edwards has been cut from the team's roster.
Injuries have restricted the amount of games that the defensive tackle could take part in during the last two seasons.
Head coach Ron Rivera said in a statement: "We appreciate the contributions that Ron has made to the Panthers the past two seasons.
"He set a great example on and off the field for our young players and we wish him well moving forward."
The 33-year-old has spent 12 seasons playing in the NFL, having also spent time at the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
