Andrew Whitworth regrets contract comments

Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth reveals his regret over comments he made about his contract situation with the AFC North side.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth has admitted that he regrets the remarks he made over his contract situation at the club.

The 33-year-old revealed his frustration with the AFC North side over their refusal to discuss terms of a new deal as his current contract with the club runs out at the end of the 2015 season.

"Monday was a tough day for me and probably handled it in ways I shouldn't have, to be honest," he told reporters. "To me, it's about always trying to make decisions that reflect my leadership and who I am.

"Because I hold myself to a high standard, I wish I may be handled it a little better. But the real truth is, at the end of the day, I love it here, I love leading these guys and our family has always been committed to that and always will be."

The Bengals put Whitworth's future at the club in jeopardy by selecting offensive linemen Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft.
