The Cleveland Browns have exercised the fifth-year option on defensive lineman Phil Taylor's rookie deal ahead of Saturday's deadline.
The 26-year-old was a first-round pick back in 2011, and coach Mike Pettine revealed that Taylor was a "great fit for what we want to do on defense" after a three-day mini-camp, ESPN reports.
Taylor has insisted that he hopes to spend his entire career in Cleveland in order to help turn the franchise into a championship contender.
After moving into the nose position in Cleveland's 3-4 defense last season, Taylor had 57 tackles and two sacks as the Browns finished ninth in the NFL in total defense.
