Tom Lewand: 'Detroit Lions job most appealing in the NFL'

Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand believes that the club's vacant head coach's position is one of the most appealing in the NFL.

Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand feels that his side's head coaching vacancy is one of the most "attractive" in the NFL.

The club parted company with Jim Schwartz on Monday afternoon following the Lions' failure to reach the playoffs for the second successive season, despite having one of the more talented rosters in the league and their rivals suffering injury problems.

Lewand told reporters: "I think this will be one of the most if not the single most attractive coaching opportunities in the National Football League.

"That starts with our ownership. I think it also continues with the talented people we have in this organisation."

Detroit are yet to reveal who they will interview for the vacancy.
