Willie Young cut his finger down to the bone during a tackle against the Green Bay Packers.

Willie Young has said that he thought about having his finger amputated after injuring it against the Green Bay Packers three weeks ago.

The Detroit Lions defensive end cut his middle finger to the bone while tackling James Starts.

Young told Detroit News: "Two weeks ago I was like, 'Yeah, let's get rid of it,'" but it's a little better now, so maybe I will keep it."

The 27-year-old has had to soak the finger in chemicals and disinfectant to help it heal, as the wound is too deep for stitches.

Despite the injury, Young has not missed practice or a game since sustaining the cut.
