Minnesota Vikings' Metrodome roof deflated ahead of demolition

The roof on the Minnesota Vikings' Metrodome is deflated to allow demolition of the stadium to begin.

The roof on the Metrodome has been deflated ahead of the start of the stadium's demolition.

The Minnesota Vikings' 32-year-old home is due to be demolished next week to make way for a new facility for the NFC North side which will open in 2016.

The fibreglass fabric roof, which was kept inflated by fans in the stadium, has previously deflated four times because of the weather, including in 2010 when the weight of on the material caused the structure to collapse.

The Vikings will play their home games at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium for the next two seasons.
