First NFL win for Jameis Winston against New Orleans Saints

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston wins his first NFL game after his team beat their NFC South rivals the New Orleans Saints 26-19.

First overall Draft pick Jameis Winston secured his first NFL win as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the New Orleans Saints 26-19 this evening.

Tampa Bay took the lead midway through the first quarter with a Kyle Brindza field goal, but the Saints replied with a rushing touchdown from running back Mark Ingram.

However, with seconds to go in the first half, quarterback Winston led his team down the field and found Vincent Jackson in the endzone to give the Bucs a 10-7 lead at the break.

The Buccaneers extended their lead early in the second half with Winston running the ball in after a 41-yard defensive pass interference penalty from New Orleans put Tampa on the one-yard line.

Two more field goals from Brindza gave the Buccaneers a commanding 23-7 lead into the fourth quarter before the Saints replied with an Anthony Johnson rushing touchdown, bringing them within 10 after failing on a two-point conversion.

New Orleans continued to rally in the final minutes, with Willie Snead hauling in a pass from Drew Brees for a touchdown, but the Saints would fail to gain any added points again after missing the extra point.

Tampa Bay put up another field goal near the end and the Saints had a chance to win in the final seconds, but Brees could not find anyone with his hail mary pass.

The win puts the Buccaneers above the Saints with a 1-1 record while the Saints remain winless on the season.
