Ben McAdoo: 'New York Giants must go back to basics'

Ben McAdoo believes that going back to basics is how the New York Giants can improve on offense in 2014.

New York Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo has admitted that the way forward for the team will be for the players to make sure that they do the fundamentals properly before they take the next step.

McAdoo, who took over at the end of the 2013 season, said that it was also important to learn from recent disappointment so that the offense do not keep making the same mistakes.

"I know that the offense here in the past has had a ton of success," he told the club's official website. "Last year they didn't play as well as they would have liked. At the same point in time, it's important for everyone to understand that we're going to move forward, we're going to learn from the past, and we're going to work so that doesn't happen again.

"First and foremost, we hang our hat on fundamentals. That's going to be the focal point. That's the first thing that we're going to address. The second thing is we want to take care of the football.

"Taking care of the football is the biggest factor in winning and losing games. Fundamentals can help you there. At the same point in time, everybody on the offensive side of the ball needs to play better."

McAdoo previously worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in two separate roles across eight seasons.
