New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has been suspended for one game by the NFL after his heated on-field battle with Josh Norman of the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Beckham, one of the star receivers in the league, was largely frustrated by Norman's defence and the two received multiple personal fouls for coming to blows.
At one point in the third quarter Beckham darted towards Norman and smashed into the Carolina man's head with his own helmet, an offence for which he has been banned.
The ban will rule Beckham out of this coming Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. He has three days in which to appeal.
Later in the game Beckham appeared to have got revenge by outmanoeuvring Norman for a late touchdown which tied the game at 35-35, but Carolina advanced the ball into field-goal territory and kicked through the posts to maintain their unbeaten season.
