Shaun Rogers pleased to be named NFL's hardest hitter by Adrian Peterson

New York Giants defensive tackle Shaun Rogers says that he appreciates being named the league's hardest hitter by 2012 MVP Adrian Peterson.

Shaun Rogers has said that he appreciated being named the hardest hitter in the NFL by reigning MVP Adrian Peterson.

The Minnesota Vikings running back highlighted the New York Giants' defensive tackle when asked at a fan forum who was the league's hardest hitter.

The 34-year-old told the Giants website: "I appreciate the comment. We're just out here doing our job. If that's one of the results, then that's one of the results. I haven't had a chance to sit down and talk to AP about that, but, I mean, that kind of statement, I appreciate it.

"I think it's a combination of all things. You've got to have the right personnel. You've got to have the right scheme and the right mentality to play the run. I think we're doing those things, and coaches are putting guys in position to do so. At the end of the day, we're going to strive for the best results."

Rogers missed the 2012 NFL season with a blood clot in his leg.
