New York Jets quarterback David Garrard is to announce his retirement from the NFL, according to the The AP.
Garrard was brought in during the off-season to provide competition for Mark Sanchez, but he has reportedly been suffering from a knee complaint during practice which could see him call an end to his career.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan was looking forward to the competition his signing would provide and although there is not yet an official announcement, it is widely expected that Garrard will make his decision soon.
Garrard completed 1,406 throwing attempts for a total of 16,003 yards during his career with Jacksonville Jaguars.
