Jarvis Jones was taken to hospital following the Pittsburgh Steelers' pre-season loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last night.
The rookie linebacker, who was a first-round draft pick, left the game after sustaining a chest injury while attempting an interception.
The 23-year-old was initially examined by the team's medical staff, but the Steelers later announced that he had been taken to a local hospital for further checks.
Jones has made three tackles and a forced fumble so far this pre-season.
