Keenan Allen: 'I wanted to quit the San Diego Chargers'

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen admits that he came close to quitting the team after being left out of their first game of the season.

Keenan Allen has revealed that he came close to quitting the San Diego Chargers after his first game with the team.

The wide receiver, who has set a new rookie record of five 100-yard receiving games this year, was left on the sidelines for the team's opening game of the season.

The 21-year-old told U-T San Diego: "After I didn't play after that first game. I was about another snap away of not playing from quitting.

"'I need help. I'm losing. I'm about to quit'. [I wasn't] living up to my expectations of starting. I've never been a role player-type guy. Not easy at all. I've never had to do it before. I never had to adjust."

Allen, who was selected in the third round of this year's Draft, has 957 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in his first season in the NFL.
