Green Bay Packers ease to victory over Washington Redskins

The Green Bay Packers beat the Washington Redskins 38-20 in their NFL clash.

The Green Bay Packers eased to a 38-20 victory over the Washington Redskins in the NFL, despite a final-quarter rally from their opponents.

The Packers notched the first points of the opening quarter when placekicker Mason Crosby came up with a 28-yard field goal to put his team 3-0 ahead.

The Packers increased their lead nearing the end of the quarter thanks to superb play from Randall Cobb, who was able to latch onto a 35-yard pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, leaving Crosby to kick for the extra point.

Once the second quarter got underway, the Packers continued to increase their lead over the Redskins. This time wide receiver Jordy Nelson made use of a 14-yard pass from Rodgers, which left Crosby to deal with the formalities and take the scores to 17-0.

The second quarter continued to be profitable for the Greens as another touchdown took the scores to 23-0, with Rodgers picking out Jermichael Finley with a three-yard pass, before Crosby kicked good yet again to leave the scores at 24-0 going into half time.

After the break the Packers extended their lead in the third quarter as Nelson made the most of a 15-yard pass from Rodgers to further frustrate the Redskins.

However, the home side were able to claw back some semblance of respect as they scored their first touchdown of the night, with Pierre Garcon collecting a six-yarder from Robert Griffin to leave the scores at 31-7.

However, their celebrations did not last for long as the Greens grabbed another touchdown when James Starks completed an impressive 32-yard run to send the scores to 38-7.

The start of the final quarter was to prove slightly more lucrative for the Redskins as Jordan Reed held onto a three-yard pass from Griffin. Griffin then did well again as he sent a nine-yard pass to Santana Moss for the touchdown, but it was too little too late as the Packers ran out comfortable 38-20 victors.
