Michael Johnson has revealed that he was one of the few who were not impressed with Adam Gemili's performance in the 100m heats on Sunday.
Gemili secured his place in the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games with a fastest time of 10.15 seconds at Hampden Park, but Johnson believes that there was something missing from the English sprinter's display.
"I wasn't that excited by Gemili's performance," the American told BBC Sport. "What has impressed me so much over the last couple of years is his technique, but he looked a little tight.
"When he runs well I'd like to see him look more like he expected it, not like 'Oh my god, that was great'."
Gemili will compete in the semi-finals, and possibly the final, on Monday.
