World champion Jehue Gordon dives over line to claim 400m hurdles silver

Cornel Fredericks of South Africa takes gold in the men's 400m hurdles final ahead of world champion Jehue Gordon.

400m hurdles world champion Jehue Gordon of Trinidad & Tobago could only muster a performance worthy of the silver medal as Cornel Fredericks of South Africa took gold in Hampden Park this evening.

Fredericks crossed the line in the time of 45.50s as he held off a late surge from Gordon, who finished in 48.75s.

Jeffrey Gibson claimed the Bahamas' first medal at Glasgow 2014 as he claimed silver with a time of 48.78s - a national record.

Richard Yates of England finished seventh.
