Indian sprinter Dutee Chand has been cleared to race after the Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended the International Association of Athletics Federations' 'gender test' rules.
The 19-year-old was banned last summer after failing a hormone test, but the IAAF's "hyperandrogenism" test could be scrapped altogether if new evidence is not provided.
According to BBC Sport, Cas has stated that the IAAF should create a new process that allows athletes to compete in one of the female or male event categories.
The ruling added that athletes should not be banned as a "consequence of the natural and unaltered state of their body".
