Jonathan Ndiku sets a new Commonwealth Games record on his way to victory in the 3,000m steeplechase final in Glasgow.

The 23-year-old was considered an outsider for the gold at Hampden Park, but he looked untroubled by his teammates in the closing stages of the race as he posted a Games record of 8:10.44.

Ndiku was followed over the finish line by two of his Kenyan teammates, with Jairus Birech claiming silver and veteran Ezekiel Kemboi settling for bronze.

James Wilkinson of England managed a finish of fifth, despite being off the leading pace.
