Majority of Boston residents back bid to host 2024 Olympics, Paralympics

A poll finds that 55% of Boston residents are in support of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games being hosted in their city.

A recent poll has discovered that the majority of Boston residents are backing the United States' bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Questions were raised when the US Olympic Committee opted to put Boston forward as opposed to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington DC.

However, a poll conducted by Sage Consulting has found that 55% of the 1,600 residents asked would like the Games to be staged in Boston, while 40% opposed the bid, according to insidethegames.biz.

Sixty-one percent of the residents claimed that they would be against the bid if "tax dollars" are used to fund it.
