The South African city of Durban has been awarded the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
It was the only city to bid for the event after Edmonton in Canada withdrew in February due to falling oil prices.
During the Commonwealth Games Federation's general assembly in New Zealand on Wednesday, outgoing president Prince Imran said: "It gives me great pleasure to welcome the South African city of Durban as proud hosts of the 22nd Commonwealth Games. As a movement we stand together to support the very first Games on African soil."
The Games will begin on July 18, the birth date of late South African anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela, and will close 12 days later.
