Russia Athletics Federation will not appeal suspension amid doping allegations

Russia Athletics Federation confirms to the IAAF council that it will not appeal against its suspension amid allegations of widespread doping.

The Russia Athletics Federation has confirmed to the IAAF council that it will not appeal against its suspension amid allegations of widespread doping.

Earlier this month, the International Association of Athletics Federation voted to provisionally suspend Russian athletes from all international competition.

The decision was made after a World Anti-Doping Agency independent commission released a report alleging doping, cover-ups and extortion within the sport in Russia.

The Russian government has also been accused of complicity in the activity, while more than 1,400 samples are said to have been destroyed by Moscow laboratory officials.

The Federation today informed the IAAF council that it will co-operate with the inspection team, who will look into doping system reforms.
