James Ellington out of 200m

British sprinter James Ellington fails to qualify for the semi-finals of the men's 200m.

Team GB's James Ellington missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the men's 200m at the London Olympics this afternoon.

The 26-year-old appeared to get out of the blocks well, which put him in contention heading into the final 100m.

However, he tightened up in the closing stages and ended up in sixth place in a time of 21.23s, the slowest that he has run all year.

Churandy Martina of the Netherlands, who competed in the final of the 100m on Sunday night, won the heat in 20.58s.

Jared Connaughton and Kei Takase also qualified.
