Christine Ohuruogu, Emily Diamond fail to reach 400m final

British pair Christine Ohuruogu and Emily Diamond fail to reach the final of the 400m at the Olympic Games.

Former Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu has failed to reach the final of the 400m in Rio de Janeiro.

The 32-year-old won gold in Beijing in 2008 and silver in London four years later but she has missed out on the chance to achieve a third medal after finishing fifth in a fast-paced semi-final.

Ohuruogu was in contention with 150 metres to go but Phyllis Francis and Stephenie Ann McPherson claimed the top two positions.

There was also disappointment for Emily Diamond, who went over the line in sixth place in the second semi-final.
