Eilidh Child has admitted that she feels as if she let herself down after finishing sixth in the women's 400m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships earlier this week.
Midway through the final, the Briton was within touching distance of the pack but a blip at the seventh hurdle effectively ended her hopes of a podium finish in Beijing.
The 28-year-old - a two-time silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and 2014 - clocked a time of 54.78s, and Child concedes that she will leave China with regrets.
"I was bit messy over the hurdles," she is quoted as saying by The Scotsman. "It was great to be in the final but I think I've let myself down a bit."
"I'm perhaps not making the right decisions. I feel like I should be among the medals or at least closer and I just feel like I'm throwing these opportunities away.
"This has been quite a difficult year. It's been a transition year with a new stride pattern and I wanted to have nailed it before I got here."
Czech Republic's Zuzana Hejnova became the first woman to retain that title by clocking 53.50s in the eight-woman field, while Americans Shamier Little and Cassandra Tate finished second and third.
