Nick Miller eases into hammer final

Nick Miller clears the qualifying mark with his first throw to reach the hammer final at the World Athletics Championships.

Great Britain's Nick Miller needed just one throw to book his place in the hammer final on the opening day of the World Athletics Championships.

Miller, who finished second in last year's Commonwealth Games, stepped up with his first attempt to record a throw of 77.42m in the Bird's Nest Stadium and ensure his day's work was completed as quickly as possible.

The 22-year-old is looking to build on some impressive recent performances after breaking the British record at a meeting in Sweden last month.

Miller will return for the final in Sunday's evening session.
