The Atlanta Hawks have been dealt a blow with the news that John Jenkins will not play again this season following surgery on an injured back.
Jenkins, who has been out of action since December 20, underwent a successful operation on Monday morning, an Atlanta statement revealed.
"The surgery was performed by Dr. Hal Silcox from the Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic," the Hawks confirmed on their official website.
"Jenkins will undergo a period of rest and recovery, followed by treatment and rehabilitation, and will miss the remainder of the season."
The 22-year-old appeared in just 13 games this season, averaging 3.1 points and 1.7 rebounds.
