Brooklyn Nets power forward Thomas Robinson will undergo surgery on his knee after sustaining an injury working out in New York.
The 24-year-old signed a two-year deal worth $2m (£1.27m) with the Nets following his release by the Portland Trail Blazers after playing in a reserve role in the 2014-15 campaign.
Robinson suffered a small meniscus tear in his right knee while preparing for the new season, and will now undergo arthroscopic surgery to amend the problem.
The forward has averaged 5.1 points per game in his three-year career in the NBA.
