Dallas Mavericks point guard Raymond Felton has avoided being handed a prison term, even though he pleaded guilty to two gun charges against him.
Felton was charged with attempted criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, and stated that he knowingly had a large-capacity ammunition magazine and a semi-automatic pistol without a license.
When asked if the above charges were true, Felton responded: "Yes, sir. I apologise. I realise what I did was wrong."
Felton was then sentenced to 500 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $5,000 [£2,900] fine.
So long as he complies with the terms of the sentencing, the case will be closed with Felton not needing to serve jail time or being placed on probation.
The player joined the Mavericks from the New York Knicks last month.
