The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced that forward Shabazz Muhammad will undergo surgery which will rule him out for the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old sustained a ruptured ligament in the middle finger on his left hand during his side's practice session on Wednesday, but still managed to play in the Timberwolves' win over the Phoenix Suns.
However, the Timberwolves have made the decision for Muhammad to have the procedure, which will likely end his campaign after 38 matches.
Muhammad is averaging 13.5 points per game for Minnesota this season.
