New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has revealed that he is "very likely" to sit out the rest of the season after the All-Star game.
Anthony has been forced to battle a knee injury for most of the campaign, and he suffered a reoccurrence of the problem in the loss to the Miami Heat on Monday.
However, the 30-year-old is keen to make an appearance in this Sunday's All-Star game at Madison Square Garden after being voted to start for the Eastern Conference.
"It's very likely. It's very likely. Now I've got to start thinking about the future," Anthony told ESPN. "This season is this season. So I really want to just sit down with my team and sit down with the proper people to just kind of plan this thing out and see exactly what I have to do to get done and just to fix it.
"Even if I come out and just play a couple minutes and just wave. I don't think the fans deserve [seeing me miss the game]. They voted me in for a reason, so at least I can show them that I appreciate that by just participating in the game."
Anthony has averaged 24.2 points per game this season, but he has been unable to prevent the Knicks from reaching the break with an NBA-worst 10-43 record.
