Roberto Cammarelle survives thrilling finish

Italy's Roberto Cammarelle hangs on to defeat Ecuador's Ytalo Perea Castillo 18-10 in the Olympic super heavyweight division.

Italian super heavyweight Roberto Cammarelle has withstood a late onslaught to defeat Ecuador's Ytalo Perea Castillo 18-10.

Cammarelle stamped his authority on the contest with a huge right that caused the referee to issue a standing count.

The Italian did not get out of second gear as he racked up the points and strolled to victory.

Another booming left from Cammarelle brought about another standing count in the third.

The bout ended in dramatic fashion, just as the result looked all but certain.

The Ecuadorian landed a big left hook that caused Cammarelle to cover up, before a left uppercut found its target and had the Italian in some trouble.

However, Perea had left it far too late and the time expired, much to Cammarelle's relief.
