Adrien Broner has urged Marcos Maidana to accept an immediate rematch for the WBA welterweight title that was ripped from his grasp in a breathtaking bout at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The 24-year-old American left the ring immediately after announcer Jimmy Lennon Jnr read out the judges' unanimous scores of 115-110, 116-109, 117-109, but later conceded that the better man won.
"I'm okay," AP Sport quotes him as saying. "I'm still the three-time world champion in three different weight classes.
"Tonight, Maidana was just the better man, but we fought a hell of a fight. I hope the fans got what they deserved. I'm still going to live like we won the fight. I'm still going to party.
"I'll tell you one thing, make a rematch. I don't need a warm-up fight. I want a rematch."
Broner won the strap with a split-decision victory over Paulie Malignaggi in June.
