George Groves plots road to world title shot

George Groves is ready to make his mark and produce performances that could lead to a world title shot next year.

George Groves has vowed to put a tough first half of 2012 behind him as he plots a road towards world title glory.

The unbeaten British & Commonwealth Super-middleweight champion believes that he has overcome a series of injury problems that have seen him without a fight since a two-round annihilation of Paul Smith last November.

Frank Warren announced at a press conference on Thursday that Groves will headline a show at Wembley Arena on September 14, but first up for 'Saint' is a bout with Mexican Francisco Sierra in California on July 28.

"It feels like a lifetime since I last fought and I need to make up for lost time seeing as I haven't managed one round of competitive fighting this year," said Groves.

"I'd like to thank every one of the fans who have given me so much support during the last few frustrating months. I plan to get my 2012 back on track with a bang, just in time for the start of the London Olympic Games."

Back-to-back wins for Groves in the next three months will see him well on his way to a world title tilt.
