Two-weight world champion Paulie Malignaggi has said that he would give UFC superstar Conor McGregor "a boxing lesson" should they ever meet in the ring.
McGregor - who has obtained a boxing licence - has frequently been linked with a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr, but Malignaggi has admitted that he would like to face the two-weight UFC champion after comments made by the Irishman about his sport and how he could beat former pound-for-pound king Mayweather.
In a video posted on his Twitter account, Malignaggi said: "I have been hearing a lot about this Conor McGregor situation and I got to thinking - you know what? I am kind of interested.
"At first I was telling Conor to stay in his lane and I was thinking you are going to embarrass yourself, but if you are really going to disrespect the sport of boxing like that then I would like to be the one to teach you that lesson."
Malignaggi has won world titles at both super-lightweight and welterweight, while McGregor is UFC world champion at lightweight.
