Kevin Mitchell in talks to face Miguel Vasquez

Promoter Eddie Hearn reveals that he is attempting to earn Kevin Mitchell a world title opportunity against IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vasquez.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that he has made an offer to IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vasquez to face Kevin Mitchell on the undercard of the Wembley showdown between Carl Froch and George Groves.

The British fighter has won three bouts in a row to move up the IBF rankings, and Hearn believes that the Londoner is ready for a second tilt at securing a world title after previously losing to Ricky Burns in 2012.

Hearn told Sky Sports News: "We are talking to Kevin Mitchell, we're talking to Miguel Vazquez as well, the IBF champion, about a potential shot for him. Mitchell is ready for the step-up."

Mitchell is scheduled to face Mikheil Avakyan in Liverpool on Saturday night.
