British light-middleweight champion Brian Rose has stopped Joachin Alcine in the final round of their intercontinental title fight.
The 28-year-old started with the confidence of a man who had won the British title outright last year.
Fighting in his hometown of Blackpool, Rose caught his veteran opponent a couple of times in the opening exchanges, edging the first few rounds.
As the fight wore on, though, the awkward 37-year-old from Canada grew in confidence and showed his class.
He became harder and harder to hit and a frustrated Rose seemed to be running out of ideas, getting caught with a big uppercut towards the end of the eighth round.
Rose recovered to finish well, hurting Alcine in the 11th before backing him into the corner and unloading in the final round.
Referee Richie Davis stopped the fight, giving Rose the win as he looks to move towards world level.
