Great Britain's David Florence has finished 13th in the men's canoe single heats first run and now faces a daunting task to win gold medal at the London Olympics.
The canoe slalom world number one started last and managed a score of 101.60, with a gap of +10.77.
The 29-year-old finished second four years ago in Beijing and is hoping to go one step better after winning two gold medals at the World Cup meetings in Cardiff earlier this year.
Benjamin Savsek of Slovenia sits top after the first run with a score of 90.83, with Spain's Ander Elosegi and Frenchman Tony Estanguet joint second with a gap of +2.41.
The heats second run is expected to start at 3.47pm today.
