Bangladesh, South Africa settle for draw after rain disrupts play in Chittagong

Bangladesh and South Africa settle for a draw after heavy rain halted play on both the fourth and final day of the first Test in Chittagong.

Bangladesh and South Africa have drawn the first Test in Chittagong, after heavy rain halted play on both the fourth and fifth days.

Not a single ball was played on the fourth or final day of the Test, leaving the umpires no other option but to end the match.

Bad weather began to affect the Test on the third day as bad light prematurely ended proceedings, while the fourth day was a washout due to heavy rain.

South Africa bowled Bangladesh out for 326 in their first innings, reaching 248 themselves.

The tourists then made it to 61-0 in their second innings before the weather took its toll on the match.

The second Test of the two-match series is scheduled to get underway in Dhaka on July 30.
