David Hussey believes that his teammate James Taylor would be a good replacement should Kevin Pietersen be unfit for the third Ashes Test.

Nottinghamshire batsman David Hussey has insisted that his teammate James Taylor is good enough to play in the Ashes, should England call upon him.

With the fitness of Kevin Pietersen in doubt for the third Test, Taylor is regarded as one of the most likely replacements.

"I'm lucky enough to play with James here at Trent Bridge," Sky Sports News quotes Hussey as saying. "He's a fine young person and a great young player, with a good temperament.

"He's got a huge future in the game and is going to play a lot of Test cricket for England.

"If he does get an opportunity at Old Trafford, he's another batsman the Australians will have to do their homework on. He's a fine young player."

The ECB arranged for Taylor to play for Sussex against the Australians in a three-day match this week.
