Graeme Swann believes that England will not be surprised by the side Australia select for this week's first Ashes Test.

Graeme Swann has insisted that England will not be surprised by Australia when the Ashes begins on Wednesday at Trent Bridge.

There has been some mystery surrounding the Australian squad but Swann believes that the hosts will be ready for whatever team the tourists select this week.

"In this day and age with so much footage and so many analysts around the world, we've got pretty good dossiers on every player so come Wednesday if there are any surprises in the Australia selection, it won't throw us too much," the off-spinner told reporters.

Despite heading into the series as favourites, Swann claims that England do not see themselves as a "dominant force" at Test level.

"We climbed up to No. 1 in the world which we were pleased about, but we didn't stay there very long," he added.

"We are continually aiming to improve and we've got to get back up there and until we are, we certainly won't see ourselves as a dominant force."

You can follow live text coverage of the first Test on Sports Mole, with commentary beginning at 10am on Wednesday.
