Jonny Bairstow has improved his chances of making the England Test team with a century against Mumbai 'A' on Saturday.
The Yorkshire batsman made 118 and starred in an entertaining partnership of 156 with one of his rivals for a place in the middle order, Eoin Morgan (76).
As a number of players, including Alastair Cook, were handed a rest for England, it allowed Nick Compton (1) and Joe Root (28) to open the batting but neither player was able to post a substantial score with the tourists looked in trouble at 66-4 early on.
However, impressive knocks from Bairstow and Morgan rescued their team, while Samit Patel continued his recent good form with an unbeaten half-century as England ended the day on 338-6.
