Alastair Cook hints at one-day international captaincy decision

Alastair Cook hints that he could step down as the captain of England's ODI team

Alastair Cook has hinted that he could step down as captain of England's one-day international team.

England were beaten by seven wickets on Sunday as Australia took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the ODI series between the sides Down Under.

Cook, who took the captaincy in 2011, has now suggested that he may leave the post in order to freshen up the squad.

"We keep losing games of cricket and I have not been able to turn it around," he told reporters. "I think English cricket needs a little bit of a change."

Cook has played 73 ODIs for England since making his debut against Sri Lanka in 2006.
